Soul Food: Righteous Living
"The word righteous, according to Strong's Concordance, means 'he who is as he ought to be.' "
Dr. Cindy Trimm
Religion has given us a raw deal. The focus on getting "right" and "getting it right" has made us shrink away from the very thing that God desires for us: authenticity.
What is important is faith expressing itself as love.
Until we can love being ourselves, we cannot love others in an authentic way. And our failure to love ourselves and others keeps us from experiencing a life full of grace and peace.
Being authentic is about being genuine and original. Look all around you and you will see "copycats" everywhere. Everything from our clothing to what we decide to pursue in life is a reflection of something that we have already seen.
What if I told you that God wants to show you something that you have never seen before? I LOVE this quote from the Inventor and Entrepreneur Henry Ford:
“If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”
Creative genius is not in copying what other people are doing. Creative is doing things differently - UNIQUE. It is not about being UNIQUE in a strange kind of way, although you may be called strange. UNIQUE is about understanding who you are, what you have been given, and what you are designed to do.
When you love being yourself, you don't bother about what other people think. As Iyanla Vanzant would say "that is none of your business."
Most of us lose our creative talent (or never develop it) because we are busy following rules, regulations, and established patterns of authority. I am NOT promoting anarchy. I am promoting the concept that you stand in and live out of your originality of thought - this is your creative genius.
Being "righteous" is not so much about living right as it is living authentically. Living righteously is about living in the power of YOU and NOT about "getting it right." If you can accept this concept, it will begin changing how you view yourself, God, and your faith.
Someone once said that the wealthiest place on earth is the graveyard. So many people die without using the full range of the potential within them. They spend their times living "quiet lives of desperation."
Today, I want to encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone and begin living an authentic life. And inside of the experience of living out your authentic life, you will encounter a freedom you have never known.
Don't wait another minute. Begin exploring Your Unique and understanding how to live it. Come back to my blog for more content and inspiration.
Your Unique is beautiful. Love Your Unique. Live Your Unique.
I am cheering for you.
